Did You Know? 2026 is the International Year of the Woman Farmer!

The United Nations has officially declared 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer (IYWF). This global initiative puts a spotlight on the incredible women who feed our families, steward our land, and drive rural economies forward.

Launched by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations this past December, the IYWF isn’t just a title, it’s a call to action. It recognizes that while women play a vital role in sustainable agriculture and food security, they often face unique barriers in accessing resources and leadership roles.

Bringing the Global Celebration to Regina

Canada’s Farm Show (CFS) Regina, SK, presented by Bunge, announces strategic alignment with this UN declaration right here in Saskatchewan.

As a platform for ideas and people shaping the future of agriculture, CFS will integrate IYWF themes into its upcoming programming, headlined by the Powering Prosperity: Canada Powered by Women National Tour 2026, presented by Deloitte.

“Canada’s Farm Show has always been a platform for the ideas and people shaping the future of agriculture in this country. Aligning with the International Year of the Woman Farmer is both a natural fit and an important step forward. Women are driving innovation, strengthening rural economies, and leading across every part of the agri-food system, yet structural barriers continue to limit opportunity. Through initiatives like the Powering Prosperity tour, we are elevating these voices and helping turn dialogue into tangible outcomes that expand opportunity and strengthen growth across the sector.”

— Trent Fraser, Acting President and Chief Executive Officer of the Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL)
