Board of Directors
We Build Community, One Memory at a Time.
Board of Directors Recruitment
The Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) is a 141-year-old, not-for-profit, municipal corporation that operates the 100-acre REAL District, owned by the City of Regina. REAL manages the land and facilities independently under the governance of a Board of Directors – a group entrusted with oversight, accountability, and strategic direction on behalf of the community.
We love our city and see the REAL District as the heart of sport, entertainment, and events. We host many of Regina’s major events, including Canada’s Farm Show, Queen City Ex, Canadian Western Agribition, and FROST @REAL, and are one of the city’s largest employers.
The REAL District is home to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Regina Pats, Regina Soccer Association, agricultural fairs and conferences, numerous concerts, trade shows, conventions, commercial operations, and many minor and recreational sports.
REAL is advertising to fill a minimum of three positions on its Board of Directors. The total number of appointments at this time will depend on the outcome of the recruitment process and the organization’s current and foreseeable governance needs.
Three directors’ terms will expire at the 2026 Annual General Meeting, and those incumbents will be considered for reappointment as part of this process. However, the Board is also open to new applicants who bring exceptional skills and perspectives, particularly in the areas of real estate development, land use planning, facility use and management, and private investment.
This is a period of change navigation for REAL. The Board is deeply engaged in important strategic work toward organizational evolution and governance refinement. With a focus on progress already in motion, this creates an opportunity for additional new perspectives. Interest is welcomed from individuals who may contribute thoughtfully and collaboratively as we continue through this phase.
Ideal Candidates
REAL is seeking community-minded leaders who bring strong expertise in real estate development, land use planning, facility use and management, and private investment. Individuals with this experience will help strengthen the Board’s capacity to guide strategic projects, partnerships, and long-term land use decisions that shape the future of the REAL District and its role within the City of Regina.
Commitment
REAL’s Board of Directors is a volunteer governance body. Serving as a Director is a significant commitment, requiring frequent regular meetings, committee work, and event participation, as well as thoughtful, forward-looking contributions to discussions and decisions.
