As a custodian, you will have the responsibility of maintaining the cleanliness of all facilities at REAL.  You will support all facilities by ensuring they are cleaned by REAL’s standards to provide a healthy and safe environment for all guests. This role will be required to follow cleaning processes and procedures outlined for each area or facility. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  1. Maintain the interior and exterior of the buildings and their surrounding grounds.
  2. Keeps buildings and grounds in clean and orderly condition.
  3. Performs heavy cleaning duties including, but not limited to cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.
  4. Ensures janitorial rooms are clean and stocked at the end of each shift
  5. Performs other duties on an as and when required basis.

Parking Attendant (Casual)

As a Parking Attendant, you will be responsible for working designated parking areas or booths at a pay-for-parking entrance/exit.  This position will also: direct vehicles to appropriate parking areas; collect parking fees; monitor parking lots to check for required permits; ensure vehicles are parked in designated spaces; provide information to visitors and staff; ensure vehicles are not blocking traffic flow; and act as the first point of contact for customers and guests.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  1. Attends designated parking area or a booth at a pay-for-parking entrance/exit during established lot hour. 
  2. Directs drivers of vehicles to appropriate parking areas and monitors and/or patrols lots to check for required permits and to ensure cars are parked in designated spaces and not blocking traffic flow.
  3. First point of contact with customers in for the company which sets the standard for customer service at the facility; the first impression is very important.
  4. Carry out all activities in a fair and courteous manner to ensure a positive public perception of REAL.
  5. Contribute to the delivery and review of service standards, quality and performance targets in accordance with the policy and procedure.
  6. The job requires the attendants to be highly visible and act as “eyes and ears” of REAL.
  7. Help to enhance the positive perception of “customer care” to provide prompt reporting of potential and existing problem areas. 
  8. Performs other duties on an as and when required basis.

The Special Events Security Officer is responsible for ensuring crowd control at events, enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations. Ensuring the personal safety of staff, visitors, and property. Maintains security and safety for assigned areas. Maintains working knowledge of the locations of various departments, buildings, access routes and admitting requirements. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  1. Provides crowd control, proactive crown management and monitoring for any potential crown control issues and concerns.
  2. Screening patrons during ingress using walk-through metal detectors, bag searches, and hand wanding techniques
  3. Performing safety and emergency procedures and ensuring security duties are carried out in compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws and REAL policies and procedures.
  4. Responds to incidents by:
    • Responds to incidents, and manages CSSS response to emergency situations, criminal activity, and other major events.  Makes immediate and appropriate decisions to prevent or minimize personal injury and/or damage to personal and public property.
    • Acts as an on-scene Incident Commander for all emergencies, demonstrations, large protests, and events on campus, working in a unified command capacity with local police, fire, and emergency health services agencies. Provides information and recommendations to the Command Centre.
    • Mitigates risk to the campus to ensure life safety and operational continuity.  Notifies the Command Centre for activation of the first responders in the event of an emergency.
    • Notifying Command Centre of all incidents.
    • Maintaining detailed reporting on all events and proper incident reporting
  5. Performs patrolling of areas and security checks by:
    • Securing premises and personnel by patrolling property; access points; permitting entry.
    • Obtaining help by sounding alarms.
    • Preventing losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers.
    • Controlling access to buildings and protecting employees, guests, and the public
  6. Providing excellent customer service to guests, employees, and the public by helping where needed, finding balance, and neutralizing high stress situations.
  7. Performs other duties on an as and when required basis.

Reporting to the Account Executive, the Sales Account Coordinator is responsible for detailing all events which includes banquets, receptions, trade and consumer shows, meetings, and conferences. The Sales Account Coordinator is responsible for preparing detailed event orders, creating floor plans, ordering services from suppliers, answering inquiries, and managing calendars. They will also be responsible for communicating changes to agenda times, guaranteed numbers; room set ups, audio-visual requirements etc. to the appropriate departments in a timely manner. The Sales Account Coordinator will liaise closely and cooperatively with the delivery team members to ensure the proper execution of the event.

The Sales Account Coordinator is a member of the REAL Sales team and works collaboratively within the corporate development team. This position will be event driven and will also support other areas of responsibility in the Corporate Development unit as requested. 

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide support to the business unit through detailing event orders and working with our event delivery teams by:
    • Utilizing software to monitor and bookings, record inquiries, update information, etc.
    • Acting as liaison with clients
    • Receiving require documents and agreements by the required due dates
    • Attending regular department meetings as needed
    • Multi-tasking through assigned deadlines while providing excellent customer service
    • Administering and coordinating rental space(s)
    • Collecting and recording information required for the event
    • Participating in post event analysis
  • Serve as an active member of the REAL Sales team to deliver results by adhering to policies and guidelines, contributing to development of customer service standards, contributing to the retention and growth of clients, and collaborating with other departments to execute successful events.
  • Performing other duties as allocated.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Fostering strong and meaningful relationships to maintain an extensive network of connections that can be tapped for new business outreach, expertise, and event hosting partnerships.

Facility Engineer Technician

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Facility Engineer Technician conducts manual maintenance and inspection work performed on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in various buildings operated by REAL. The Facility Engineer Technician will work with considerable independence and must exercise discretion at times, as in the case of deciding whether to shut down a boiler during an emergency. Unusual situations are referred to a supervisor, who also makes visual inspections of the incumbent’s regular work. Will be responsible for completing or overseeing a variety of assignments to carry out the renovation and maintenance of buildings and facilities.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Maintains equipment and facilities. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducts daily checks on the operation of the campus’s HVAC Systems including refrigeration systems, as required by the Provincial Boilers Act and A.S.M.E. CODE. (All readings and observations are recorded in daily logbooks; submits reports on the condition of boilers to an immediate supervisor.
  • Completes facility repairs, installations, small construction remodeling, grounds improvement, and maintenance projects; coordinates with other departments to complete remodeling projects; reviews remodeling plans for energy efficiency and proper construction methods; maintains records of materials used; orders and purchases new materials.
  • Completes emergency repair jobs or isolations; inspects field work performed; plans and estimates maintenance and repair work; maintains records of work order requests and completion.
  • Drives a vehicle to field sites to inspect equipment and facilities or observe maintenance activities; assists with the development and implementation of annual shutdowns for facilities maintenance purposes.
  • Inspects existing facilities to ascertain their condition and prepares reports depicting the condition, deficiencies observed, designs necessary for repairs, and estimated cost of repairs.
  • Analyzes and investigates maintenance problems or issues and prepares and provides recommendations to Maintenance Management with solutions and/or recommendations.

Reporting to the League Specialist, the League Coordinator assists in developing and implementing a Fall/Winter & Spring/Summer Adult Hockey League as well as a Youth Spring Hockey League.  Once the leagues have been developed, the League Coordinator will coordinate and perform all administrative and clerical tasks necessary for the operation of the league. League Coordinator will participate in the planning and execution of special events hosted by the Hockey League, such as tournaments and championships.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Assists in coordinating and performing all administrative and clerical tasks for the Fall/Winter & Spring/Summer Adult Hockey League as well as the Youth Spring Hockey League.  This includes tasks such as, but not limited to:
    • Assisting with preparation of team playing schedules and tournament draws;
    • Collecting all team/player registrations and fees in accordance with established payment deadlines and policies;
    • Daily administration of league operations;
    • Maintaining timely and accurate league records;
    • Problem solving as required and is direct liaison from management to the team reps and players;
    • Nightly visitation to teams’ dressing rooms;
    • Liaise with other business units as required;
    • Attending meetings as needed; etc.
  • Performing other duties as allocated.

  • Conduct thorough and proper ice making and maintenance by:
    • Preparing facility for surface installation of ice, turf, and hard courts
    • Conducting surface checks
    • Ensuring conservation measures are followed and identifying and controlling risks
    • Tracking and maintaining surface supplies and equipment
    • Performing regard checks and maintenance for playing surface equipment
    • Operating various surface equipment
    • Converting playing surfaces as needed

  • Assisting trades and facility engineers in the maintenance of plumbing and heating systems

  • Monitor and maintain work schedules and ensuring that employees complete work assignments in a timely manner.

  • Maintain all product inventories, requisitions of cleaning supplies as well as a record of all stock.
  • Address complaints and recommends solutions; report any disciplinary concerns to Manager.
  • Participates in ongoing training of Leads and Custodians.
  • Ensures pre and post use checklists are being completed by all powered equipment operators.
